Kidnapping Case Involving Crypto Millionaire Reveals Disturbing Details
The shocking details surrounding the kidnapping of an Italian Bitcoin millionaire have emerged, implicating a group of individuals in a series of wild parties held at a lavish New York City townhouse. Sources report that the alleged kidnappers, William Duplessie, 32, and John Woeltz, 37, were assisted by an unnamed woman suspected of acting as a madam, who reportedly recruited women from a trendy SoHo boutique to participate in these events.
Victim’s Ordeal Captured on Video
Recent footage obtained by TMZ appears to show the victim, Michael Valentino Teofrasto Carturan, alongside women believed to be part of the twisted gatherings. Allegedly, during his three-week captivity, Carturan, a wealthy trader with an estimated net worth of $30 million, was coerced into sexual acts with these recruits. Disturbing clips revealed a shirtless Carturan being led by leash by a woman, as well as another video depicting him lying on a couch near a man brandishing what looked like a knife.
Coercion and Torture for Bitcoin
Carturan was reportedly deceived into traveling to New York with the false assurance that he could recover Bitcoin that the duo had allegedly extorted from him under threats to harm his family. He was picked up at the airport on May 6 by a suspended NYPD detective serving as security. Sources indicate that it was on May 11 when he was restrained, marking the start of the horrifying torture to extract his Bitcoin password. Authorities stated he endured severe beatings, electric shocks, and even threats involving a five-story drop.
Escape from Captivity
The harrowing ordeal came to light when Carturan managed to escape on May 23, emerging bloodied and barefoot after deceiving his captors into believing he would provide them with his computer password. He fled the townhouse while they were distracted. Woeltz was apprehended that same day outside the high-end rental, while Duplessie turned himself in the following week after spending time in the Hamptons over the Memorial Day weekend.
Investigation Uncovers Disturbing Evidence
A search of the townhouse revealed a disturbing array of items, including cocaine, a saw, chicken wire, body armor, night vision goggles, ammunition, and disturbing Polaroid photographs of the victim with a gun at his head. It remains unclear if law enforcement is examining the newly surfaced videos in connection with the ongoing investigation. The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office has not provided any comments, and attempts to reach the NYPD for further information were unsuccessful. The attorneys representing the accused kidnappers have also refrained from making statements. The two men are currently in custody and are set to appear in court again later this month.
