Ukraine Announces Sale Of NFT To Support Ukrainian Forces

Ukraine is announcing the sale of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to support the Ukrainian Armed Forces after canceling plans for a crypto airdrop.

Yesterday, Ukraine said they were preparing to airdrop a new coin for crypto donors who gave to the Ukrainian war efforts against Russia.

“Airdrop confirmed. Snapshot will be taken tomorrow, on March 3rd, at 6 pm Kyiv time (UTC/GMT +2 hours).

Reward to follow!”

However, later in the day, Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov tweeted plans to cancel the airdrop and offer NFTs instead.

“After careful consideration, we decided to cancel airdrop. Every day there are more and more people willing to help Ukraine to fight back the aggression.

Instead, we will announce NFTs to support Ukrainian Armed Forces soon. We DO NOT HAVE any plans to issue any fungible tokens.”

Ukraine’s crypto course correction follows multiple reports of fake spoof tokens being sold by scammers to take advantage of the wartime efforts. The so-called “Peaceful World (WORLD)” token is being called a scam by multiple media outlets as 7 billion WORLD tokens were created on Wednesday following Ukraine’s airdrop announcement, according to EtherScan.

At time of writing, Ukraine has yet to provide any further details on the nature or timeline of its NFT collection.
